![]() ![]() Tomb Raider went on to sell more than 14.5 million copies as of October 2021, making it the best-selling Tomb Raider title to date. Upon release, Tomb Raider received critical acclaim, with critics praising the graphics, gameplay, Luddington's performance as Lara, and Lara's characterization and development, although the addition of a multiplayer mode was not well received and some reviewers directed criticism towards the game's ludonarrative dissonance. The game suffered a delayed release from late 2012 to March 2013. Camilla Luddington was hired to voice and perform as Lara Croft, replacing Keeley Hawes. Tomb Raider is set on Yamatai, an island from which Lara, who is untested and not yet the battle-hardened explorer she is in other titles in the series, must save her friends and escape while being hunted down by a malevolent cult. Rather than a sequel, the team decided to reboot the series, re-establishing the origins of Lara Croft for the second time, as they did with Tomb Raider: Legend. Hopefully that gave you some idea about the length of this game.Crystal Dynamics began development of Tomb Raider soon after the release of Tomb Raider: Underworld in 2008. Yeah, the 120 hours or so that I spent on this game are from that 44-hour playthrough, another 13.5, and the remaining hours are from a few more playthroughs on higher difficulties and generally just mucking about in the game. The tombs of the DLCs themselves can all be completed in less than 10 minutes, as is evident by the Challenge Tombs section, outside the main game/campaign. If you know you're not speedrunning (leisurely pace, cutscenes etc), then each DLC will take anywhere between 45 to maybe 70 minutes. There are around 7 or 8 DLCs or something. ![]() It made me realise that most of the time spent in this game is finding collectables which have no inherent value, other than getting Achievements. That took 13.5 hours, just for main story, and all side missions, to supplement what I felt was a rather short campaign in the first place. Then I did another playthrough, I wondered what it'd be like if I just did the main campaign, AND sidemissions, but I didn't bother with any collectables, and I wasn't speedrunning at all, just took things at my own relaxed pace. But in subsequent playthroughs, you'll already be familiar with just about everything. Understandably some collectables are going to be a bit harder to find. #Shadow of the tomb raider definitive edition game length upgrade#On my first campaign, it took me around 44 hours to complete it 100%, but there are three things to note here:ġ) This was before the first DLC was released.Ģ) I (regretfully) grinded, in the sense that I would shoot random animals and collect loot to gain experience points, hoping to fully upgrade all weapons and skillsets, which, in hindsight, didn't turn out to be as useful as I thought.ģ) First playthrough, so you're not going to know where everything is exactly. I completed the game around 3 or 4 times, with various degrees of pace in each campaign. I uninstalled this game months ago, but with 120 hours on the clock, I think I have some idea of what I did. Story and side-missions only: 13.5 (thirteen and a half) hours.Įach DLC: Not speedrunning, approximately 45 to 70 minutes for each DLC. First time playthrough, to get 100%: 44 hours. ![]()
